A beautiful view of Camps Bay
Just a 10-minute drive from the Cape Town city center is the beautiful seaside town of Camps Bay. With stunning views, beautiful beaches, and exceptional restaurants, Camps Bay is well worth a visit during your trip to Cape Town, South Africa!
Whether your staying at one of the many luxurious accommodations in Camps Bay or are staying in the city center of Cape Town, you can easily get a taxi or car service to take you to the restaurant strip in Camps Bay. This strip features a handful of exceptional restaurants that each overlook the beautiful beach and ocean.
Below are some of our favorite Camps Bay restaurants:
The Roundhouse: Located off the beaten path (just a few minutes drive from the Camps Bay restaurant strip) is the beautiful and highly acclaimed Roundhouse. The property in which the restaurant sits is stunning and boasts amazing views of the bay. Diners can enjoy indoor and outdoor seating, but if the weather is nice, I highly recommend sitting outside!
The restaurant has an elegant vibe and features both a tasting menu and a la carte menu. If you wish to taste several courses from the full menu, I highly suggest the tasting menu, which combines a variety of dishes and flavors.
The Grand: Cozy and intimate, The Grand is a gorgeous restaurant with an extravagant fireplace, romantic lighting, enchanting candelabras, and comfortable seating. The food is exceptional and includes everything from seafood to steak. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, so guests can choose whether they wish to experience the intimate atmosphere of the interior or the stunning views of the ocean – whatever dining area you choose, you can’t go wrong! It’s also important to note that the service is exceptional and if you need suggestions on what to order, the waiters are more than willing to assist.
Paranga: If you’re looking for a more trendy, upbeat vibe, then a visit to Paranga for dinner is in order. Also located across from the beach, Paranga has a very small outdoor seating area, but the side of the restaurant is open, so even if you’re sitting on the edge of the restaurant, you will still feel the ocean breeze.
The food at Paranga is absolutely exquisite and their specialty is seafood (pretty much all the restaurants in Camps Bay specialize in delectable seafood!). I highly recommend ordering the seafood platter, which features a huge selection of seafood, including crayfish, prawns, langoustines, a fillet of kingklip, and calamari – AMAZING. The dish also comes with two sides.
Café Caprice: For a more casual and semi-club vibe, visit Café Caprice. This restaurant is bustling and serves up some excellent sandwiches, seafood, and specialty cocktails. Just a warning, it’s loud, so if you’re looking for a quiet dinner for two this probably isn’t your best option. But locals love this spot for getting together with friends over a drink and appetizer. It’s a great place to listen to house music and chat!
