There’s no place on earth quite as enchanting as Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. At least that’s how I feel whenever I visit this gorgeous, wildlife-abundant region. And one of my absolute favorite places to stay in Zimbabwe’s wilderness is The Hide Safari Lodge.
This luxurious lodge offers an intimate setting, with just 10 tents in total, 8 of which are standard tents and two are luxury tents. Each tent is built with canvas and thatch, and designed with contemporary and organic elements to create a light and airy ambiance. Guests enjoy stunning views of the lodge’s large watering hole via their private verandah and can frequently spot a variety of residential game, including elephants, kudu, giraffe, and zebra!

The main area of camp is referred to as the “A” frame, and this is where guests enjoy The Hide’s famous meals, and can enjoy afternoons by the plunge pool or lounging in the sun with a cocktail or glass of wine in hand.
Dinner is served around a large dining table, which is great as everyone can talk and share their stories from the day. The food is served buffet style and the chef is truly amazing.

In addition to exceptional accommodations and cuisine, The Hide also offers an array of unique and traditional Zimbabwe safari tours and activities. See below for a list of ways to spend your days at The Hide:
Observe wildlife from a unique perspective in the hide: The Hide Safari Lodge actually has its own hide. A “hide” is an area on ground level that allows safari-goers to safely observe wildlife up close under camouflage. This is truly one of the most incredible features about The Hide and a favorite among guests! To get to the hide, guests must visit The Hide “A” frame area where they can go in an underground tunnel to access the hide and view the wildlife at the watering hole closer than from the lodge. But that’s not all the hide offers . . .
Within the tunnel, guests can explore a charming wine cellar and select their wine for the evening. Pretty incredible, right?!
Enjoy game viewing from your private verandah: Whether enjoying a cup of coffee or cocktail on your tent’s private verandah, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a variety of wildlife species pass right in front of you, including elephants, kudu, giraffe and zebra. Or, if you’re feeling tired from the exciting game viewing adventures earlier in the day, enjoy a light siesta on your deck.
Lounge in the pool: For a refreshing dip in The Hide’s pool, head to the main “A” frame area, grab a cocktail or a glass of wine, and simply relax in one of the world’s most spectacular settings.
Embark on exciting game drives: With some of the finest guides in Zimbabwe, The Hide’s morning and afternoon game drives are an absolute thrill and chock full of wildlife sightings. The region is famous for sightings of the Big 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard), as well as hyenas, hippos, ostriches, mongoose, zebra, giraffes, wildebeest, warthogs, elephants, a variety of bird species, and much, much more.
Experience an exciting adventure on a guided bush walk: Step off the 4X4 Land Rover vehicle and into the wilderness on foot with one of The Hide’s expert and knowledgeable guides to witness Zimbabwe’s wildlife from a different perspective. During these walks, you’ll be able to witness the small creatures of Zimbabwe (animals and insects too small to see from a vehicle) and learn about their unique behaviors. You won’t believe how fascinating the dung beetle is, for example!
