It is probably the most common question we get – what do we pack for safari?
As part of our fully comprehensive planning process, we have lots of detailed documents for our clients to help them prepare, and that includes a packing checklist and guide of all the things they would need. we’re excited to share some of our team’s top tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
- Cross pack! Have at least one complete outfit in each piece of luggage. You don’t want to be left high and dry if something goes missing!
- Don’t forget some warmer layers for the colder seasons. It can get chilly in the mornings and at night when the sun isn’t out.
- Bring wet wipes. You’ll never know when they’ll come in handy.
- Bring a light scarf or pashmina – it’s multipurpose. The name of the game is to pack light and dress in layers.
- Use packing cubes! They are the easiest way to keep your luggage condensed and organized.
- Bring bug repellant wipes. They are much more convenient to pack than the spray.
- Put an air tag in each piece of luggage. Better safe than sorry!
- Check for laundry services. Most camps offer laundry service and are very efficient in getting it back to quickly. You can plan to pack less and wear the same items of clothing throughout your trip.
- Don’t overthink it – you can buy things in Africa too!
- Wear what you are comfortable in – safari is usually about sitting in a vehicle, so comfort and breathability are important.
Now, let’s share some basics for packing on safari.
