If you are a foodie, Lairds Lodge should be on your bucket list.

Every client we’ve had the privilege of working with on their African Safari tour and we have recommended Lairds Lodge, has told us they should have stay longer.  We normally book our clients a 3 night stay – they often wish they had stayed 6.  It’s the most beautiful inviting setting, and the property has a warmth and friendliness about it.  The staff are so kind and helpful.

Lairds Lodge is a fabulous boutique hotel set on a 24-acre estate in the Plettenberg Bay area of the Garden Route.

The rooms are all decorated differently, so you never know what you’re going to get.  Each room has a beautiful patio surrounded by nature.  Waking up to birds chirping and looking forward to the delicious breakfast is one of my favorite moments at Lairds.

And as I said before, if you’re into food then this is the place to be.  Each evening is a feast, not only with the food but the environment.  The area is set up with beautiful lighting and dinner is served family style, at a communal table.  You make your dinner choice by lunch, so as to help the chef cater especially for YOU.  The meal is a set course menu with vegetarian options, and there is always the opportunity to chat with the chef Bibi to discuss a meal that is right for you.  Pre-dinner drinks are served at 7pm where you get the opportunity to meet and chat in the courtyard and share stories of your day.  Dinner is then served at 8pm at the long table in the dining room.

One of the special touches, is that each morning your car is washed for you.  What a treat to have my car washed.  Another is getting into bed and having a hot water bottle to cozy up to.  It’s the extras that sets Lairds Lodge apart.  The staff are very professional, friendly with a bit of humor and give you a very personalized experience.

Lairds Lodge is one of those special places, where you are not sure what you are going to get – and you will always get more than the anticipated.

If you’re traveling along the Garden Route, Lairds Lodge is the place to stay.  Only a short drive away you’ll find the gorgeous beaches of Plettenberg Bay, if you’re a walker you should check out some of our walking experiences in the Garden Route.

Why not combine an African safari vacation by visiting Cape Town, driving up the gorgeous Garden Route and staying at Lairds Lodge, then ending with safari in Kruger or even Botswana?
