Itinerary
DAY 1
WELCOME TO KENYA! On arrival in Nairobi you will be met with VIP Assistance through Customs & Immigration. Your Hills of Africa representative will transfer you to Hemingways Nairobi , where you will stay for 2 nights. Setting a new benchmark for hotels in Nairobi, Hemingway Nairobi offers the full facilities expected in a modern luxury boutique hotel.
DAY 2
This morning, you will be met by your private guide for a full day’s private guiding in Nairobi. You will start your day with a visit to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where infant elephants and rhinos (orphaned because of poaching activities) are cared for and eventually returned to the wild in Tsavo National Park. The center is open every morning so visitors can watch the calves bathing in the mud hole and being bottle-fed by their human surrogate mothers. Next you will visit the Giraffe Center, which is a sanctuary for the rare and protected Rothschild Giraffe, one of the 3 races of giraffe found in Kenya. One may touch, and feed by hand the beautiful creatures that live in the private reserve of the Giraffe Manor. End the day with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, home of pioneer coffee farmer and acclaimed writer Karen Blixen, famous for her book “Out of Africa.”
DAY 3
Today you will transfer to Nairobi Wilson Airport and take a charter flight to Amboseli Airstrip. You will enjoy your first game drive from the airstrip to Tortilis Camp where you will stay for 2 nights. Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and is situated in one of Amboseli’s areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro.
DAY 4
Tortilis Camp is located in Amboseli, which is best known for its unrivaled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. Owned by professional guides, the camp’s emphasis is on a complete safari experience; fun, intellectually stimulating, oneness with nature: game drives in 4×4 land rovers, guided bush walks, swimming pool, bush breakfasts, sundowners, massages, and cultural visits.
DAY 5
This morning, you will be transferred to Amboseli Airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to Lewa Airstrip. On arrival at Lewa Airstrip, you will be met by camp staff and driven to Lewa Safari Camp enjoying a game drive in the Lewa Conservancy along the way, where you will stay for 2 nights. Lewa Safari camp offers authentic comfort for its visitors; cozy log fires in the lounge are perfect for relaxing after a day in the Conservancy.
DAY 6
Lewa has one of the highest wildlife densities in Kenya including 11% and 14% of the country’s black and white rhinos respectively, and the world’s single largest population of Grevy’s zebra. The Conservancy is also the best place to spot herds of elephants and buffalo, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, more than 400 species of birds and if lucky, a pack of wild dogs! While staying at Lewa Safari Camp, you will enjoy shared game drives and activities, such as: guided walks, bush breakfasts, sundowners, and horse or camel rides in the Lewa Conservancy.
DAY 7
This morning, you will be transferred back to Lewa Airstrip for you onward flight to Loisaba Airstrip. On arrival at Losisaba Airstrip, you will enjoy a game drive on your way to Loisaba Tented Camp, where you will stay for 2 nights. Perched on the edge of an escarpment, Loisaba Tented Camp is designed to capitalize on unhindered views across Laikipia’s mottled landscape all the way to Mt Kenya. All accommodations and main areas enjoy a breathtaking vantage point over an expansive panorama.
DAY 8
Loisaba is immense. You could take months exploring this land and never encounter the same view twice. We can assure you that you will not bump into anyone else and you will see the most extraordinary natural wonders – spectacular animal life that is wild, free, and exhilarating to observe and a kaleidoscopic variety of birds, both endemic and migratory. You can choose from a variety of activities, such as: morning and night game drives, guided bush walks, horse and camel riding, mountain biking, fishing, bush meal, and even the Loisaba Sniffer Dogs Experience.
DAY 9
This morning, you will be transferred back to Loisaba Airstrip for your charter flight to Keekorok Airstrip in the Masai Mara. On arrival at Mara Keekorok Airstrip, you will be met by camp staff and driven to Sand River Mara enjoying a game drive along the way. Situated on a secluded and picturesque site, the camp replicates the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920’s. Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination, at any time of the year, for those wishing to enjoy exceptional game-viewing.
DAY 10
The Maasai Mara is arguably the best-known game reserve in the world, made famous thanks to the incredible number of wildlife documentaries made here. The National Reserve is best known for its large concentrations of big cats, such as leopard, cheetah and, of course, lion. Even the dramatic arrival of the Annual Migration merely adds to an already abundant resident wildlife. Enjoy a variety of activities, such as game drives, cultural and school experiences, swimming, sundowners, and bush breakfasts.
DAY 11
Today, you will be transferred back to Mara Keekorok Airstrip.On arrival at Keekorok Airstrip, you will be assisted to your private charter flight to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport (NBO). On arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be met by VIP Assistance, who will help you to check in for your departing flight, clear Kenyan immigrations and customs controls and proceed to your onward gate for your flights home.
